Upgrading your bathroom is one of the best ways to go about beating the housing market blues and selling your property, according to a recent national survey of estate agents.
The research, carried out by shower manufacturer Mira, questioned estate agents across the country about current trends in the property market and found that a modernised shower or bathroom greatly enhances the overall appearance of a home.
A massive 95 percent of respondents believed that a modernised shower or bathroom would help a property to sell and more than three quarters of these felt it would also add to the sale price – increasing it by an average of almost £2,000.
The installation of a separate shower room in addition to a bathroom was said to add the most value to a property, with 80 percent of those questioned saying their buyers exhibit a preference for this design, which provides more flexibility and is ideal for larger families.
Roger Crabb, head of marketing communications at Mira, said, “The impact of investing in a modern shower and bathroom is clearly stronger than five years ago – and if you’re thinking of moving, spending money in this area could be a good way of getting your property noticed in these competitive times. “Home improvement and DIY shows have resulted in higher expectations from buyers, who are demanding quality fixtures and fittings to ensure their bathrooms make the right impression.”
Upgrading your bathroom or adding an extra shower needn’t cost the earth. Mira offer a range of showers and enclosures for every budget, including the stylish new Escape electric shower, which is available from just £300.
