At Kohler Mira, our commitment to giving back to our community is woven into our business – it’s a core part of our culture. That’s why, with the support of our Community Pillar, each year we have a nominated charity that we support.
For 2017, we are delighted to continue to support Cancer Research UK as well as welcoming a new charity – charity: water. We were really excited to welcome Angharad McKenzie from the charity to both our company Roadshows at the start of the year, to explain more about the life-changing work that the charity is carrying out in third world countries.

Importantly, what resonated with charity: water was the synergies with Kohler Mira. Not only does it reflect our commitment for looking at innovative water solutions, but also it is a forward-thinking charity. The charity is set up to allow 100% of public donations to go directly to the community projects, as all of the business costs and overheads are covered by generous investors in the charity. This means that 100% of the business’s 2017 fundraising efforts will go directly to the source. Plus the charity is committed to supporting the economy of the project, by using only local workers and supplies.
Whilst we would love to be able to send all of our associates to visit the water projects we are going to support, this proves to be a bit of logistical challenge. Instead, we were able to take them there virtually, through a 7 minute long virtual reality experience about how charity: water changes a little girl and her community’s lives. It is a moving and immersing experience that has captured the hearts of our entire business, and spurred us on to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause.
Through charity: water, it costs around £7,000 to fund a well or similar water solution. Plans are already underway to support World Water Day in March – so watch this space to see how many wells we can fund this year!
