We continue our partnership and support to plumbing apprentices by continuing our bronze Sponsor of the HIP UK Heating Apprentice of the Year 2019
We're always incredibly proud of the work we do with apprentices, both internally and externally, and 2019 is no different. We are delighted to be continuing our sponsorship of the HIP Magazine's Heating Apprentice of the year competition. 2019 continues the HIP ‘Meet the Lecturer’ initiative where we will be visiting the competition regional heats and talking directly to the lecturers of the competing colleges. This is a fantastic opportunity to maintain our strong link with the industry and is a great opportunity to support the next generation of installers and recognise the hard work, talent and dedication of apprentices in the UK.
The competition, launched in 2009, offers apprentices across the country the opportunity to participate in a series of challenges and practical tasks to test their skills, and compete against other students at a national level. Chosen students will be invited, with their lecturers, to attend one of the UK regional events where they’ll spend the day competing against other students on practical tasks.
The winner of each regional heat, plus the person who has received the highest score overall from all of the seven regional heats, will then go forward to the grand final which will be held at the ADEY Professional Heating Solutions’ Training and Conference Centre in Cheltenham on 27th & 28th March 2019.
The dates and venues of the regional heats are as follows:
- North East – Newcastle College, Tuesday 15th January 2019
- North West – Burnley College, Thursday 17th January 2019
- South West – Petroc College, Tuesday 22nd January 2019
- Wales – Gower College Swansea, Thursday 24th January 2019
- Northern Ireland – Belfast Metropolitan College, Thursday 7th February 2019
- Midlands – Stephenson College, Tuesday 19th February 2019
- South East – West Herts College, Thursday 21st February 2019
We wish all of the competitors the best of luck!
