A day in the life: Craig Baker, Marketing & Customer Service Director

Friday 5th August 2016

We recently sat down with Craig Baker, Marketing & Customer Service Director. Craig began his career at Mira Showers as a design engineer and has since occupied a number of roles including: Senior Project Manager: Mixer Showers, New Product Development Director, and his current role as Marketing & Customer Service Director.

How long have you worked at Mira Showers?
I have worked at Mira Showers for 18 years! I will soon be able to join the 21 Club; a select few who have worked for Mira Showers for 21 years or more.

How did you get the job?
I got the job straight from university; although during my time there I took part in a placement year at Mars as part of my degree.

What's a typical day look like?
My typical day isn’t typical at all because no two days are the same! My role means that I can be meeting customers one day and reviewing the year new product schedule the next. Some days I can be filming our latest media content and the next in the call centre, or out on the road with one of our service engineers.

Favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of my job is the diversity. I am always doing something new and different and whilst that is a constant challenge it is exhilarating. The speed at which the market is moving and the ambitious nature of the business means that as the Marketing & Customer Service Director, I am able to directly influence the way in which we communicate as a business which in turn means the Kohler Mira business has a global impact.

Biggest challenge?
My most challenging aspect is the lack of time! The variety of my role often means that it is the end of the working day and I am wondering where the time went. I would love to be able to spend more time with the team in the contact centre, the service engineers and the marketing group but the reality is I am always rushing from one important job to the next.

Proudest moment?
The proudest moment during my time at Mira Showers has to be being awarded the Chairman’s Award by Mr Kohler himself for new product introduction. This award is only given out once a year, with Kohler Co. selecting between 35,000 associates worldwide.

After work what do you like to do?
After work I love to go home and spend time with my wife and three young boys. Family time and holidays in particular are extremely important to me, because we get to spend quality time with one another. I love what I do and I work extremely hard so as a family we make sure that we appreciate the time we have away together.
