A day in the life: Emma Foster, Senior Marketing Manager

In 2015, we kicked off our Mira Showers’ A Day in the Life series giving you all an insight into the not-so-average workday of a Mira Showers employee. Today, we bring you Senior Marketing Manager, Emma Foster. Emma joined the Mira Showers team in 2008 after working in the Kohler UK team, before becoming Senior Marketing Manager – Brand & Communications in 2015.

How does your day start?
My alarm goes off at a different time each day, as it is really dependent on what my diary says! If I am lucky enough to have a day in the office, I’m up by 6:30am to be in our Cheltenham offices by 8am.

What does your role involve?
I’m responsible for all of Mira Showers’ communications and all of Kohler Mira’s multi-brand internal communications. My role and responsibilities are so varied, but my days are spent meeting with my wide range of teams planning ways to strengthen the Mira brand.

When did you start at Mira Showers?
I got the job straight from university. Initially I did a temp job in the HR department before moving into the Kohler UK team. It was a hugely exciting time as it was the launch of the brand into the UK market. I moved to Mira in 2008 and have worked in a variety of sectors in the company including product marketing, channel marketing and now, marketing communications.

My typical day
Well, no two days are the same. One day I might be in London meeting with our media buying or PR agencies, the next I might be at an installer event showcasing one of our latest products and the next I might be writing and or delivering our monthly team brief to Kohler Mira associates, informing them on everything that is going on within the business and brands that make up Kohler Mira Ltd.

Most enjoyable part
My most enjoyable part of the job has to be the people. As a company we pride ourselves on our teams and invest a lot of time on this. I've got a great team both internally and at our agency partners, so what I enjoy most is getting stuck in to projects with all of them and seeing the fruits of our hard work come to fruition.

Biggest challenge
My most challenging aspect is keeping up to date with the latest developments in communications techniques. There are always new tools and approaches cropping up, so it can be difficult staying on top of social media and content generation.

After work what do you enjoy?
After work I love to spend time with my husband, my family and my friends. I often find myself going out for dinner and putting the world to rights over a glass of wine, or two! During the week, I do a Pilates class and play tennis, both are a great way to relax and think about something other than work.
