Launched to celebrate Mira’s centenary year, Space 100 is a flexible space designed to foster creativity and innovation amongst its team. It will also be used as a venue to host events that the brand runs for its work in the community. This will include activities such as STEAM events with local schools, apprenticeship evenings, installer training and networking events, as well as a sustainability event with customers during the Cheltenham Science Festival.
Her Royal Highness also took the time to speak to several members of the team, including those who played an integral part in the production of ventilators throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, before unveiling a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.
During the official opening, The Princess Royal was greeted by the Board of Directors and Associates at Kohler Mira. Managing Director, Craig Baker, then escorted Her Royal Highness on a tour of the production facility.
Following the visit, Craig Baker presented the business’ charity partner, Sue Ryder, with a cheque for £105,000. In 2021, the shower company celebrated its 100th birthday. To mark this huge milestone, it wanted to give something back to the local community by setting an ambitious target of raising £100k for the charity. Despite the continued impact of COVID-19, associates across the business ran multiple fundraising activities throughout the year, and incredibly, they managed to exceed this target!
Craig Baker, Managing Director of Kohler Mira, said:
“Celebrating 100 years of innovation is a significant milestone for the whole team at Mira Showers. To end the year with the launch of Space 100, and especially welcoming The Princess Royal for its official opening - is an absolute honour.”
“From designing the world’s first thermostatic valve to ensure safer everyday experiences, to creating award-winning moments for a difference that customers can feel every time they shower, Mira has been on an incredible journey throughout the last century. We’re so proud of what we’ve achieved, and Space 100 will play an integral role as we strive to continue innovating and shaping the future of showering.”
“Space 100 will also enable us to build closer links to the community. We are committed to continuing the work we do promoting early careers through our apprenticeship programme, sponsoring local sports clubs and events, and fundraising for our annual charity partners. We are delighted to have been able to fundraise so much for Sue Ryder, and I would like to thank our team for all of their hard work in meeting our target – not to mention the incredible team at Sue Ryder itself.”
