At Kohler Mira, we want our associates to be the very best versions of themselves every day. That’s why, we focus on how we can support our associates through their well-being and development.
This year, we ran the 4-week Focus Development event which looked at how we are developing as a Company, a Team and as an Individual.
As part of the event, our own associates shared their personal development stories. Nilman Ekanayake, Team Leader – Engineering spoke about his Kohler Mira development story including a secondment in Kohler Wisconsin. Plus, Sarah Sadler, Finance Director, shared her development story from Finance Apprentice to Finance Director including her various roles throughout the Kohler Co. business. Associates and managers attended bite-size workshops and drop-ins run by Kohler Mira associates and the HR team. Topics included health and well-being, project management essentials, coaching skills and how to get the most out of development planning. These programmes continue to run throughout the year.

One of the real highlights were our associates sharing skills across different departments. Some of our associates taught the basics in Mandarin and Spanish, as well as an interactive Photography workshop! Plus, our Field Service Engineers taught the basics of Plumbing and Tiling in a completely hands-on workshop in our Training Centre.

Plus, the crescendo of the event was a key note speech delivered by Olympic silver medalist, Leon Taylor. Leon talked about his personal development story from athlete to mentoring coach and the lengths that he went to in order to achieve his dream. Leon also delivered a mentoring workshop, providing advice and tools on how to become an effective mentor.
“You could hear a pin drop in the room – everyone was so captivated by Leon's presentation. He was such an inspirational speaker. There were definitely tips from Leon’s talk that I could take away in my day-to-day.”
