Shower fixtures and caddies
Shower heads and taps are constantly exposed to moisture, making them prime candidates for rust development. Even fixtures marketed as ‘rust-proof’, like a rust-proof shower caddy, can develop problems over time, particularly around joints and connections where water tends to pool.
Metal shower caddies and storage units are especially vulnerable, as they’re often made from lower-grade metals with thin protective coatings. The screws and brackets holding these fixtures are frequently the first to show rust, as they’re small components that may not receive the same protective treatment as larger fixtures.
Pay particular attention to areas where water doesn’t drain properly – these spots hold moisture for longer, accelerating the oxidation process. With the right bathroom maintenance, you can prevent rust from building up.
