My power shower pump is excessively noisy

Troubleshooting

Please see below our recommendations for resolving the noise issue from your power shower. If none of the suggestions resolve your problem, you can book a service repair online or contact our Customer Service team by using the contact us form.

Is this a new installation?

It is not unusual for customers who have not had experience of power showers previously to consider these products as noisy. Power showers contain an integral pump capable of boosting the flow of water to up to 16 litres per minute and will make some associated noise.

Is this an existing installation?

Air may be trapped in the system. Please follow these steps to remove any trapped air:

  • Remove the showerhead - Please read our helpful guide on How to remove a showerhead.
  • Drop the shower hose down into the bath or shower tray and run on full cold for a minute or two
  • Slowly increase the temperature to the hottest setting and run on full hot for up to five minutes

This should remove any air trapped in your pipework. You can now reattach the showerhead and try running again as normal.

If this has not resolved the issue:

The showerhead may be blocked, affecting water flow. We recommend descaling it using a plastic kettle descaling solution. To maintain optimal shower performance, regular cleaning of the showerhead is essential. For further guidance, please read our helpful guide on How to clean your showerhead.

If this has still not resolved the issue:

  • Unscrew the shower hose and run water through (over your water catchment area, i.e. shower cubicle or your bath. Read our helpful guide on, How to remove a shower hose if you need
  • If the shower runs correctly without the hose, it indicates that your shower hose has a blockage where it could be kinked, or the lining has collapsed.
  • We would recommend replacing your shower hose. You can view our range of compatible shower hoses here

If this has not resolved the issue:

This shower contains filters which we would recommend being checked by a qualified tradesperson.

For the tradesperson: Check the filters are clean and check valves are not sticking.
